BASANTU FAMILY HISTORY

Below is information about the band ever since it was founded

History

The Basantu Family is more than just a band; we are a vibrant group of talented young musicians hailing from the picturesque St. Patrick's High School-Iten. Our passion for music, particularly rhumba, drives us to not only showcase our talent but also uplift the youth in our country and celebrate the richness of African culture through our melodies.

Imagine a band that started with nothing but an arts teacher, Mr. Mukabwa, armed with his trusty guitar and a few boys whose musical talents he spotted. Little did we know that this humble beginning would lead to an exciting journey filled with laughter, camaraderie, and incredible music. Our practice sessions quickly turned into joyous occasions, where we not only honed our skills but also created memories that will last a lifetime.

In 2021, we decided to make things official. We welcomed more incredibly talented students and dedicated teachers into our fold, and together, we realized the boundless potential of Basantu Family. Our dedication and passion caught the attention of the school's chief principal and even county officials, who were captivated by our performances. With their support, we were able to secure funding for top-notch instruments that have elevated our music to new heights.

But wait, there's more! Just when we thought our journey couldn't get any more exciting, a new person entered the picture—Joe Mudukiza. Joe recognized our incredible talent and became an invaluable part of our band. Thanks to his guidance and expertise, Basantu Family achieved remarkable milestones. We were nominated for an excellence award at the prestigious Xtreem Awards 2021, and guess what? We won it! The feeling of holding that trophy was surreal and fueled our determination to keep pushing the boundaries of our musical prowess.

And that's not all. Joe also saw the potential in taking our talent beyond the borders. He signed us up for the UKTT (United Kingdom Talent Train), a renowned talent show held all through Eastern Africa. Let me tell you, the anticipation was high, and we lived up to the hype! Our electrifying performance left the audience in awe, showcasing the true essence of Basantu Family's music and captivating hearts across the globe.

We believe that music has the power to change lives, and we are on a relentless pursuit of excellence. As you delve deeper into our band's story, you'll discover not only our love for music but also the strong bond we share as friends. We've had our fair share of hilarious moments that have added extra spice to our journey. Join us on this warm and whimsical adventure as we make music, spread joy, and leave a lasting impact on everyone we encounter.

So, get ready to tap your feet, groove to infectious rhythms, and witness the magic of Basantu Family unfold before your eyes.
